The Thirty-Six Stratagems
The Thirty-Six Stratagems is a work of unknown origin, discovered in a Shanxi Province bookstall by chance in 1941. It is also know as "the Secret Art of War". It contains six groups of six stratagems each, according to the dynamic situational pattern that exists within a situation. These stratagems emphasize the fundamental principles of deception, maneuverability, & situational assessment. If you have any interest in bringing the theory of Strategy into practice, then you MUST grasp these concepts.
This is a translation of the base text of the classic introduction to Chinese Strategy. The focus is on the original text & the analytical comments, without the usually appended historical illustrations. Why waste time with hypothetical "applications" to a field you don't work in, that are based on "paraphrases" that completely destroy the subtle implications of the text?
